Education and Training

Cara Lodge

Cara Lodge considers education to be of significant value and there are teachers from various disciplines on site. A new learning centre in Cara Lodge allows the young person to continue their education programme supporting each young person’s individual treatment plan and facilitating their return to education following treatment.

The courses offered include the Junior Certificate, Leaving Certificate and FETAC Levels 3 & 4. The project workers help the young people to develop a wide variety of skills. Horticulture and sustainability form an integral part of a young person’s daily activities. Cultivating their own organic vegetables and learning to cook for themselves promotes independent living skills.

Youth Enterprise Scheme (YES)

A structured education programme has been set up for young people who have been involved in crime in conjunction with the Young Persons Probation and the CETB.

The classes offered are usually in either one to one or small groups, therefore the young person receives an educational programme tailored to their individual needs. The educational programme offers a variety of FETAC Level 4 opportunities for the young people to pursue.
