In response to requests from parents in Matt Talbot Services, the Assessment and Day Treatment Centre organised a safeTALK workshop on 16 January 2017. This was well supported by 17 participants and facilitated by Jason Sheehan through the HSE.

The talk lasted for 3 hours and empowered participants to identify those who may be suicidal, give them skills and confidence to intervene and direct them to suitable professionals who can further assist. The aim of the programme is to develop suicide aware communities. Following the workshop both Patrick Cooney and Tara Morrissey (family counsellors) supported the group process the information received.

Each participant was given a safeTALK Resource Book and a certificate of attendance.  For further information, please follow the link below

None of this would have been possible with the support of our co-worker in the YES project who made the facility available for the evening, particularly Hilda, Don and Mandy who provided her wonderful scones for the break.  Many thanks to them.
