Following a successful grant application from the Youth Capital Funding Scheme 2016/17 ( DCYA) & generous donation on behalf of a young person; the Assessment & Day Treatment Centre at Trabeg Lawn, Douglas has commenced work on our garden area. The garden had been sorely neglected over the last year & had been overgrown with the trees blocking out the natural light.
Plans were made earlier in the year to redesign our current paved garden into a therapeutic space of solitude & peace, to create a separate seating areas for reflection & allow counselling sessions to take place without interfering with others using the garden at the same time. The use of the existing garden would be a great addition to our holistic programme and provide a safe and relaxing space for young people who feel intimidated by the structure of a counselling room.
An extract of our photo diary is below :
The trees have been thinned & re-crowned
Footings laid for raised beds
