Mission Statement
and Philosophy of Care

Matt Talbot Adolescent Services CLG is committed to providing treatment services for young people with substance misuse issues and their families. We actively seek to create an environment of hospitality, trust and respect. We work in collaboration and partnership with other agencies ‘statutory and voluntary’ in keeping with our commitment to social justice, care and support. Our belief is that the welfare of the young person is paramount; and in the dignity of all young people urges us to embrace a holistic approach and to seek to realise their full intellectual, spiritual, emotional, social, cultural and physical potential. We endeavour to ensure that the welfare of staff is paramount in relation to their working environment.

“Without empathy, genuineness and positive regard, relationships and healthy personalities will not develop as they should, much like a tree will not grow without sunlight and water.”
Carl Rogers (1902-1987)

Matt Talbot Adolescent Services CLG is a Voluntary Organisation and a Registered Charity. The service is an integral part of the HSE (Health Service Executive) – Southern Area provision of Drug and Alcohol Services and Family Support Services for Cork and Kerry.

Our Approach

We work out of a Harm Reduction model along with utilising evidence based interventions including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) and Family Inclusive Practice (FIP). Our understanding of the relationship between substance use and adolescent development is crucial in the design of our various interventions and treatment strategies. Our continuum of care incorporates the nuances of a younger person’s experience – including cognitive, emotional, moral and social development.
